Virginia High School Football - Grayson County drops to George Wythe
October 27, 2023: Independence, VA 24348 In Friday's league game, the George Wythe Maroons (Wytheville, VA) football team knocked off the host Grayson County Blue Devils (Independence, VA), by a final score of 23-0.
The Maroons (6-3) will now prepare for their game against Auburn (Riner, VA). The Eagles come into the Mountain Empire game with a 2-7 record. In their last game, Auburn was dropped by Eastside (Coeburn, VA), 40-0, in a non-league game.
The Blue Devils now hold a 8-1 record. They take the field next when they host Galax for a Mountain Empire game on Friday, November 3. Grayson County will battle a Maroon Tide team coming off a 42-27 league win over Fort Chiswell (Max Meadows, VA). The Maroon Tide record now stands at 6-3.
