For the second straight year Richard Montgomery Rockets won the county championship, this time avenging the regular season loss to Thomas Wootton Patriots, who got the better of Rockets less than two weeks ago. In a similar fashion, the Rockets were the one to make a comback from a set down this time, and triumph in 4 sets: 21-25, 25-15, 25-20 and 25-21. This is the 2nd Montgomery County Championship win for the Richard Montgomery team, who also lost to Patriots in 5 sets in 2023, but beat Walter Johnson Wildcats in 3 last year, the only county game that did not feature Wootton. Patriots won the first three county championships, and tonight was their first loss. Sophomore outside Katie Mitchell with 20 and senior outside Ellie Mitchell with 14 kills, led the team on offense, while junior middle blocker Kinsley Flores contributed 5 kills and 3 blocks. On defense, junior libero captain Ana Djordjevic dominated with team high 23 digs and 2.13 serve rating. She also had game high 7 aces.
