In Thursday's non-league challenge, the host Laney Buccaneers volleyball team scored a 2-0 victory over the New Hanover Wildcats.

The Buccaneers (10-5) will now prepare for their challenge against Topsail (Hampstead, NC). The Pirates enter the challenge with a 16-2 record. In their last challenge, Topsail beat South Brunswick (Southport, NC), 2-0, in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Wildcats meet the Coastal Christian Centurions (Wilmington, NC) in a non-league challenge, on Monday, October 7. New Hanover will attempt to upgrade on its 9-9 season record. The Centurions enter the challenge with a 3-5 record after their 2-0 non-league loss to Topsail (Hampstead, NC).
