New York High School Football - St. Anthony's thwarted by Iona Prep

October 4, 2024: New Rochelle, NY 10804

Iona Prep Gaels (New Rochelle, NY) fans went home in high spirits Friday as they saw their football team achieve victory over the visiting St. Anthony's Friars (Melville, NY), 48-40 in a league battle.

With the win, Iona Prep improves its record to 4-2 on the season. The Gaels travel to Cardinal Hayes (Bronx, NY) to play the Cardinals in a Catholic AAA battle on Friday, October 11. The Cardinals go into the battle with a record of 4-1. Cardinal Hayes won 27-7 in their recent league battle against Kellenberg Memorial (Uniondale, NY)

The Friars now have a 3-3 record. They play next when they host Xavier for a non-league battle on Friday, October 11. St. Anthony's will play a Knights team coming off a 42-7 league win over Holy Trinity (Hicksville, NY). The Knights record now stands at 3-2.
