In Saturday's non-league challenge, the host Vernon Hills Cougars volleyball team scored a close 2-1 victory over the St. Charles East Fighting Saints.

The Cougars (14-11) will now prepare for their challenge against Highland Park (Highland Park, IL). The Giants enter the Central Suburban challenge with a 9-9 record.

The Fighting Saints now own a 8-11 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Lake Park for a DuKane test on Tuesday, October 7. St. Charles East will face a Lancers squad coming off a 2-0 non-league loss to Hersey (Arlington Heights, IL). The Lancers record now stands at 9-17.
