Texas High School Volleyball - The Colony over Turner
October 8, 2024: Carrollton, TX 75006 In Tuesday's league challenge, the visiting The Colony Cougars volleyball team scored a 3-0 triumph over the Turner Lions.
The Cougars (7-17) will now prepare for their challenge against Wakeland (Frisco, TX). The Wolverines come into the 5A Region II District 12 challenge with a 24-5 record. In their last challenge, Wakeland beat Reedy (Frisco, TX), 3-0, in a league challenge.
Next, the Lions play the Newman Smith Trojans (Carrollton, TX) in a 5A Region II District 12 challenge, on Friday, October 11. Turner will attempt to upgrade on its 3-16 season record. The Trojans come into the challenge with a 10-17 record after their 3-0 league loss to Lone Star (Frisco, TX).
Match Summary
The Lady Lions battled their hearts out tonight and showed tremendous improvement against The Colony Cougars. Their excitement was contagious, as was their defense, hustle, and grit. They made the Cougars really work to earn every single point tonight. While the score ended 0-3, the Lady Lions played with every fiber of their being tonight. With scores of 18-25, 21-25, and 11-25, the Lady Lions had tremendous defense by Daisy Rodriguez-Ramirez, Grecia De La Garza, Imari JeanBaptiste, and Alondra Barcenas, which matched quite beautifully with the exquisite set ups by Alondra Barcenas and Marely Mendoza, who watched as Athena Noel, Imari JeanBaptiste, Sofia Dimas, Addison Peeler, and Ava Cervantes killed the ball to put it away. Tonight was a true team effort that showed the amazing improvement this young team has made over the season so far.
