In Thursday's non-league contest, the host Velma Jackson Falcons basketball team scored a close 62-57 triumph over the Leake County Gators.

The Falcons (1-2) will now prepare for their contest against Yazoo County (Yazoo City, MS). The Panthers go into the non-league contest with a 1-3 record.

In their next game, the Gators confront the St. Joseph Catholic Bruins (Madison, MS) in a non-league contest, on Saturday, November 16. Leake County will attempt to better on its 0-2 season record.
