In Friday's non-league contest, the host Chambers Cougars basketball team scored a close 73-67 triumph over the Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls.

The Cougars (1-0) will now prepare for their contest against The Burlington School (Burlington, NC). The Spartans go into the non-league contest with a 3-2 record. In their last contest, The Burlington School nipped Wayne Country Day (Goldsboro, NC), 47-37, in a non-league contest.
