November 18, 2023: Abingdon, IL 61410 The Abingdon/Avon Tornadoes (Abingdon, IL) basketball knocked off the visiting Mercer County Golden Eagles (Aledo, IL), 55-39 in Saturday's non-league test.
The Tornadoes (1-1) will now prepare for their test against Illini West (Carthage, IL). The Chargers go into the non-league test with a 1-3 record. In their last test, Illini West went down by Alleman (Rock Island, IL), 38-30, in a non-league test.
The Golden Eagles now own a 2-2 record. They play next when they host Macomb for a non-league test on Tuesday, November 21. Mercer County will encounter a Bombers squad coming off a 40-39 non-league loss to Illini Bluffs (Glasford, IL). The Bombers record now stands at 1-3.
