The Dougherty Trojans (Albany, GA) basketball crushed the visiting Columbus Blue Devils (Columbus, GA), 70-43 in Friday's league test.
The Trojans (3-2) will now prepare for their test against Hardaway (Columbus, GA). The Hawks go into the AAAA Region 1 test with a 3-0 record. In their last test, Hardaway walloped Manchester (Manchester, GA), 60-56, in a non-league test.
The Blue Devils now own a 0-4 record. They play next when they host Kendrick for a non-league test on Saturday, December 1.
Quarter 1
Rod Jones scored 15 points to bring Dougherty to a 70-43 victory over Columbus on Friday. Dougherty Trojans Boys Varsity put points on the board early, claiming a 35-18 lead at the half. After scoring a game-high 21 points in the third quarter on the strength of a 13-0 run, Dougherty locked in their existing lead. Great play from the field made Jones stand out, as he made 56% (5-for-9) of shots attempted as well as 60% (3-for-5) of threes attempted. Eric Gulley made it into double digits, scoring 12 points for Dougherty (5-for-9). Also helping the effort for Dougherty were Lamar Hall (9 points, 8 rebounds), Antonio Knighton (6 points, 3 rebounds, 1 block), Justin Jackson (6 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks), Will Riggins (5 points, 3 rebounds, 1 block), Sergio White (5 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal), Lavonta Clyde (3 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal), Jordan Greene (3 points, 5 rebounds), Makiel Jones (2 points, 4 rebounds), and Keyshaun Harris (2 points).

Dougherty finished the game with 64 rebounds (33 offensive / 31 defensive), four blocks and 12 steals.
