Indiana High School Basketball - Calumet New Tech routed by North Newton
November 7, 2025: Gary, IN 46408 The North Newton Spartans walloped the host Calumet New Tech Warriors basketball team by a margin of 51-23 in Friday's non-league game.
The Spartans now have a 1-1 record. They play next when they host Lowell for a non-league game on Saturday, November 8. North Newton will confront a Red Devils team coming off a 52-46 non-league win over Wheeler (Valparaiso, IN). The Red Devils record now stands at 1-0.
With the loss, Calumet New Tech falls to 0-1 on the campaign. The Warriors travel to Hammond Morton (Hammond, IN) to clash with the Governors in a non-league outing on Thursday, November 20. The Governors enter the outing with a record of 2-0.
First Quarter
During the first quarter, both teams came out strong, trading baskets back and forth. North Newton held a narrow 8–6 lead, with Jayla Anderson finding her rhythm early—scoring all six of the Lady Warriors’ points.
Second Quarter
The Lady Warriors added 6 points in the second quarter, with Jayla Anderson continuing to lead the offense, contributing 5 points. Harmony Alvarez joined the scoring column with 1 point to round out the quarter.
Third Quarter
In the third quarter, the Lady Warriors hit a scoring slump, managing just 4 points. Deja Wright picked up her fourth foul and was forced to sit, limiting the team’s defensive presence. Jayla Anderson knocked down her second three-pointer of the game, but despite their effort, the Lady Warriors struggled to find the basket.
Fourth Quarter
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Warriors added 7 points to their total. Jayla Anderson scored 2 points before being sidelined with an injury. Harmony Alvarez knocked down a three-pointer, while Eunice Guadarrama contributed 2 points, adding her name to the scorebook.
