Iowa High School Basketball - Wahlert fells Mt. Vernon
December 1, 2023: Mt. Vernon, IA 52314 Wahlert Golden Eagles (Dubuque, IA) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Mt. Vernon Mustangs (Mt. Vernon, IA), 53-42 in a non-league bout.
With the win, Wahlert upgrades its record to 1-1 on the season. The Golden Eagles host Decorah-North Winneshiek (Decorah, IA) to play the Vikings in a non-league bout on Tuesday, December 5. The Vikings go into the bout with a record of 2-0. Decorah-North Winneshiek won 74-31 in their recent non-league bout against Center Point-Urbana (Center Point, IA)
Next up, the Mustangs play the Jefferson Hawks (Cedar Rapids, IA) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, December 2. Mt. Vernon will attempt to upgrade on its 0-1 season record. The Hawks go into the bout with a 1-1 record after their 56-54 non-league loss to Davenport North (Davenport, IA).
