Fans at Wednesday's non-league challenge between the Mallard Creek Mavericks (Charlotte, NC) and the host Sun Valley Spartans (Monroe, NC), saw Mallard Creek's basketball squad hold off Sun Valley by a tally of 69-66.

With the victory, Mallard Creek improves its record to 3-4 on the campaign. The Mavericks host West Charlotte (Charlotte, NC) to encounter the Lions in a 3A/4A Queen City test on Friday, December 8. The Lions go into the test with a record of 2-2. West Charlotte won 83-32 in their recent non-league test against Garinger (Charlotte, NC)

The Spartans now own a 2-4 record. They play next when they travel to Ardrey Kell for a non-league test on Friday, December 8. Sun Valley will encounter a Knights squad coming off a 68-46 non-league win over Porter Ridge (Indian Trail, NC). The Knights record now stands at 4-3.
