In Tuesday's non-league match, the host Hickory Red Tornadoes basketball team scored a good 81-62 triumph over the Newton-Conover Red Devils.

In their next game, the Red Tornadoes meet the Freedom Patriots (Morganton, NC) in a non-league match, on Friday, December 15. Hickory will attempt to move on its 5-0 season record. The Patriots enter the match with a 3-4 record after their 69-56 non-league loss to A.C. Reynolds (Asheville, NC).

With the defeat, Newton-Conover moves to 3-3 on the year. The Red devils host West Caldwell (Lenoir, NC) to meet the Warriors in a 2A Catawba Valley match on Friday, December 15.
