Illinois High School Basketball - Athens fells Lutheran

December 13, 2022: Athens, IL 62613

Athens Warriors (Athens, IL) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Lutheran Crusaders (Springfield, IL), 56-45 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Athens upgrades its record to 3-3 on the season. The Warriors host Mt. Pulaski (Mt. Pulaski, IL) to clash with the Hilltoppers in a non-league bout on Friday, December 16. The Hilltoppers go into the bout with a record of 2-5. Mt. Pulaski lost 52-28 in their recent non-league bout against New Berlin (New Berlin, IL)

Next up, the Crusaders clash with the PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central Bluejays (Petersburg, IL) in a non-league bout, on Friday, December 16. Lutheran will attempt to upgrade on its 3-6 season record. The Bluejays go into the bout with a 7-0 record after their 56-53 non-league win over South County (Franklin, IL).
