Illinois High School Basketball - Athens tops Tri-City
January 21, 2023: Athens, IL 62613 Fans at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Athens Warriors (Athens, IL) and the visiting Tri-City Tornadoes (Buffalo, IL), saw Athens's basketball squad knock off Tri-City by a tally of 54-38.
With the victory, Athens improves its record to 13-9 on the campaign. The Warriors host PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central (Petersburg, IL) to play the Bluejays in a Sangamo challenge on Tuesday, January 24. The Bluejays come into the challenge with a record of 13-4. PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central lost 50-45 in their recent non-league challenge against Routt Catholic (Jacksonville, IL)
Next up, the Tornadoes play the Mt. Olive Wildcats (Mt. Olive, IL) in a non-league challenge, on Tuesday, January 24. Tri-City will attempt to improve on its 5-16 season record. The Wildcats come into the challenge with a 1-16 record after their 72-56 non-league loss to Carlinville (Carlinville, IL).
