The Vela Sabercats nipped the visiting Mission Eagles basketball squad by a final score of 48-41 in Saturday's non-league outing.

Next, the Sabercats clash with the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial Wolverines (Alamo, TX) in a 5A Region IV District 31 outing, on Tuesday, December 16. Vela will attempt to upgrade on its 12-8 season record. The Wolverines go into the game with a 2-13 record after their 52-49 non-league loss to La Villa (La Villa, TX).

With the loss, Mission falls to 12-6 on the campaign. The Eagles host Martin (Laredo, TX) to play the Tigers in a 5A Region IV District 30 bout on Tuesday, December 16. The Tigers go into the bout with a record of 6-12. Martin won 52-48 in their recent non-league bout against Robstown (Robstown, TX)
