Newton South Lions (Newton, MA) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Norwood Mustangs (Norwood, MA), 48-39 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Newton South upgrades its record to 1-0 on the season. The Lions travel to Lincoln-Sudbury (Sudbury, MA) to clash with the Warriors in a Dual County - Large bout on Tuesday, January 3. The Warriors go into the bout with a record of 0-0.

Next up, the Mustangs clash with the Ashland Clockers (Ashland, MA) in a Tri-Valley bout, on Friday, December 16. Norwood will attempt to upgrade on its 1-1 season record. The Clockers go into the bout with a 0-1 record after their 57-24 league loss to Westwood (Westwood, MA).
