In Friday's league match, the host Gretna Hawks basketball team scored a tight 46-39 triumph over the Appomattox County Raiders.

In their next game, the Hawks meet the Halifax County Comets (South Boston, VA) in a non-league match, on Monday, December 18. Gretna will attempt to move on its 4-3 season record. The Comets enter the match with a 3-2 record after their 57-43 league win over Mecklenburg County (Baskerville, VA).

With the defeat, Appomattox County moves to 0-2 on the year. The Raiders host Altavista (Altavista, VA) to meet the Colonels in a Dogwood match on Tuesday, December 19.
