The Newton Cardinals topped the visiting Pella Dutch basketball team by a final score of 54-36 in Friday's league game.

In their next game, the Cardinals face the Albia Blue Demons (Albia, IA) in a non-league game, on Tuesday, December 20. Newton will attempt to improve on its 2-2 season record. The Blue Demons come into the battle with a 4-2 record after their 72-52 non-league win over Cardinal (Eldon, IA).

The Dutch (4-2) will now prepare for their battle against Knoxville (Knoxville, IA). The Panthers come into the non-league battle with a 5-1 record. In their last battle, Knoxville prevailed over Centerville (Centerville, IA), 58-49, in a non-league battle.
