Illinois High School Basketball - Sparta nips Chester
December 19, 2023: Chester, IL 62233 Fans at Tuesday's league challenge between the Sparta Bulldogs (Sparta, IL) and the host Chester Yellowjackets (Chester, IL), saw Sparta's basketball squad hold off Chester by a count of 50-47.
With the victory, Sparta upgrades its record to 9-3 on the campaign. The Bulldogs travel to Christ Our Rock Lutheran (Centralia, IL) to play the Silver Stallions in a non-league challenge on Saturday, December 23. The Silver Stallions come into the challenge with a record of 2-7. Christ Our Rock Lutheran won 66-60 in their recent non-league challenge against Brownstown/St. Elmo (St. Elmo, IL)
Next up, the Yellowjackets play the Carterville Lions (Carterville, IL) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, December 22. Chester will attempt to upgrade on its 3-6 season record. The Lions come into the challenge with a 5-4 record after their 57-40 league win over Harrisburg (Harrisburg, IL).
