Pennsylvania High School Basketball - New Castle holds off Hempfield Area
December 19, 2023: New Castle, PA 16101 Fans at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the New Castle Hurricanes (New Castle, PA) and the visiting Hempfield Area Spartans (Greensburg, PA), saw New Castle's basketball squad hold off Hempfield Area by a tally of 63-58.
With the victory, New Castle improves its record to 6-1 on the campaign. The Hurricanes host Clarion-Limestone (Strattanville, PA) to confront the Lions in a non-league challenge on Thursday, December 28. The Lions come into the challenge with a record of 3-3. Clarion-Limestone won 60-57 in their recent league challenge against Clarion Area (Clarion, PA)
The Spartans (2-5) will now prepare for their contest against Greensburg Central Catholic (Greensburg, PA). The Centurions come into the non-league contest with a 7-1 record. In their last contest, Greensburg Central Catholic edged Serra Catholic (McKeesport, PA), 70-55, in a league contest.
