Illinois High School Basketball - Newton holds off Charleston
December 20, 2022: Charleston, IL 61920 Fans at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the Newton Eagles (Newton, IL) and the host Charleston Trojans (Charleston, IL), saw Newton's basketball squad hold off Charleston by a tally of 63-58.
With the victory, Newton improves its record to 10-2 on the campaign. The Eagles travel to Monticello (Monticello, IL) to confront the Sages in a non-league challenge on Saturday, January 7. The Sages come into the challenge with a record of 5-4.
Next up, the Trojans confront the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes (Teutopolis, IL) in a non-league challenge, on Wednesday, December 28. Charleston will attempt to improve on its 3-6 season record. The Wooden Shoes come into the challenge with a 9-1 record after their 67-58 non-league win over Mt. Vernon (Mt. Vernon, IL).
