In Friday's non-league contest, the host Magdalena Steers basketball team scored a good 55-36 triumph over the Jal Panthers.

The Steers (8-1) will now prepare for their contest against Texico (Texico, NM). The Wolverines go into the non-league contest with a 6-0 record. In their last contest, Texico topped Whitharral (Whitharral, TX), 73-47, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Panthers battle the Tucumcari Rattlers (Tucumcari, NM) in a non-league contest, on Saturday, December 21. Jal will attempt to better on its 3-4 season record. The Rattlers go into the contest with a 4-3 record after their 67-50 non-league win over Newcomb (Newcomb, NM).
