Pennsylvania High School Basketball - Christian School of York nips Dayspring Christian Academy
December 21, 2023: York, PA 17404 Christian School of York (York, PA) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Dayspring Christian Academy Warriors (Mountville, PA), 49-44 in a league bout.
With the win, Christian School of York upgrades its record to 5-2 on the season. The travel to Fairfield (Fairfield, PA) to play the Knights in a non-league bout on Thursday, January 4. The Knights go into the bout with a record of 2-1.
Next up, the Warriors play the Linville Hill (Paradise, PA) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 2. Dayspring Christian Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 2-6 season record. The go into the bout with a 6-0 record after their 50-16 league win over Coventry Christian (Pottstown, PA).
Game Summary
Dayspring fell behind 8-0 in the first two minutes and spent the rest of the game fighting to catch up. It looked like they would when they pulled to within 2 with about 2 minutes to go, but the Defenders made free throws down the stretch to hold on for the win. The Warriors did draw hope for the future by taking down to the wire the school they scored only 7 points the entire game in the same gym just three years prior. In a few short weeks, they'd get an even better shot at CSY, when two lucky bounces decided the game.
