The Newton Tigers basketball team scored 54 points and restricted the visiting Kemper County Wildcats to 33 in the Tigers non-league victory on Thursday.

The Tigers now sport a 12-2 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Forest for a non-league contest on Friday, December 22. Newton will battle a Bearcats team coming off a 46-26 non-league win over Lake (Lake, MS). The Bearcats record now stands at 7-4.

The Wildcats (3-4) will now prepare for their contest against Quitman (Quitman, MS). The Panthers come into the non-league contest with a 10-3 record. In their last contest, Quitman triumphed over Magee (Magee, MS), 72-20, in a non-league contest.
