In Friday's non-league contest, the host Fort Bend Hightower Hurricanes basketball team scored a close 43-39 triumph over the Iowa Colony Pioneers.

The Hurricanes (16-5) will now prepare for their contest against Bridgeland (Cypress, TX). The Bears go into the non-league contest with a 14-8 record. In their last contest, Bridgeland was tipped by Fort Bend Willowridge (Houston, TX), 73-52, in a non-league contest.
