In Wednesday's non-league outing, the McGuffey Highlanders (Claysville, PA) basketball squad edged the visiting Fort Cherry Rangers (McDonald, PA), by a margin of 33-32.

The Highlanders (9-2) will now prepare for their outing against South Park (South Park, PA). The Eagles go into the WPIAL 3A 4 outing with a 2-5 record. In their last outing, South Park held off South Allegheny (McKeesport, PA), 43-29, in a non-league outing.

The Rangers now own a 3-4 record. They play next when they host Carlynton for a WPIAL 2A 2 outing on Monday, January 2. Fort Cherry will clash with a Cougars squad coming off a 44-28 non-league loss to Chartiers-Houston (Houston, PA). The Cougars record now stands at 3-4.
