The North Star Cougars basketball team scored 59 points and restricted the visiting Somerset Eagles to 50 in the Cougars non-league victory on Thursday.

The Cougars now sport a 5-2 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to United for a non-league contest on Friday, December 29. North Star will battle a Lions team coming off a 78-56 non-league win over Tussey Mountain (Saxton, PA). The Lions record now stands at 5-3.

Next up, the Eagles play the Bedford Bisons (Bedford, PA) in a Laurel Highlands bout, on Wednesday, January 3. Somerset will attempt to upgrade on its 1-7 season record. The Bisons go into the bout with a 1-7 record after their 49-44 league loss to Richland (Johnstown, PA).
