Fans at Thursday's non-league challenge between the Washington County Panthers (Plymouth, NC) and the host Pasquotank County Panthers (Elizabeth City, NC), saw Washington County's basketball squad hold off Pasquotank County by a count of 75-73.

With the victory, Washington County upgrades its record to 6-0 on the campaign. The Panthers travel to North East Carolina Prep (Tarboro, NC) to play the in a 1A Four Rivers challenge on Wednesday, January 3. The come into the challenge with a record of 2-4. North East Carolina Prep lost 67-36 in their recent non-league challenge against Bear Grass Charter (Williamston, NC)

Next up, the Panthers play the Hertford County Bears (Ahoskie, NC) in a 2A/3A Northeastern Coastal challenge, on Friday, January 5. Pasquotank County will attempt to upgrade on its 3-6 season record. The Bears come into the challenge with a 4-2 record after their 59-57 non-league loss to Bertie (Windsor, NC).
