December 28, 2023: Mendota, IL 61342 Fans at Thursday's non-league challenge between the Newman Central Catholic Comets (Sterling, IL) and the host Mendota Trojans (Mendota, IL), saw Newman Central Catholic's basketball squad wallop Mendota by a tally of 55-28.
With the victory, Newman Central Catholic improves its record to 10-9 on the campaign. The Comets travel to Kewanee (Kewanee, IL) to confront the Boilermakers in a Three Rivers - East challenge on Thursday, January 4. The Boilermakers come into the challenge with a record of 3-11. Kewanee lost 54-46 in their recent non-league challenge against Fieldcrest (Minonk, IL)
Next up, the Trojans confront the Hall Red Devils (Spring Valley, IL) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, December 29. Mendota will attempt to improve on its 4-12 season record. The Red Devils come into the challenge with a 7-9 record after their 61-16 non-league win over Hiawatha (Kirkland, IL).
