The Merced Bears (Merced, CA) basketball edged the host Clovis Cougars (Clovis, CA), 65-61 in Saturday's non-league bout.

The Bears now possess a 8-6 record. They play next when they travel to West for a non-league bout on Monday, December 30. Merced will play a Wolfpack team coming off a 49-45 non-league win over Hoover (Fresno, CA). The Wolfpack record now stands at 12-1.
