Texas High School Basketball - Jordan tipped by Episcopal
December 29, 2023: Bellaire, TX 77401 In Friday's non-league match, the host Episcopal Knights basketball team scored a tight 66-64 triumph over the Jordan Warriors.
In their next game, the Knights meet the Huntsville Hornets (Huntsville, TX) in a non-league match, on Friday, January 5. Episcopal will attempt to move on its 15-7 season record. The Hornets enter the match with a 4-6 record after their 68-50 non-league loss to Waller (Waller, TX).
With the defeat, Jordan moves to 18-5 on the year. The Warriors travel to Tompkins (Katy, TX) to meet the Falcons in a 6A Region III District 19 match on Tuesday, January 2. The Falcons enter the match with a record of 6-11. Tompkins lost 91-62 in their recent non-league match against Episcopal (Bellaire, TX)
Game Summary
By the end of the first half, the advantage belonged to Episcopal who held a 34-32 lead against Jordan. Every point was earned on both sides, which carried over into the final 16 minutes of the contest.
The Warriors were as proficient as ever, with Jonah Folse (21 points) leading the team in scoring after drilling seven shots beyond the three-point line, alongside Eljah Black (12 points) and Jaden Holt (10 points).
However, Justin Begg (George Mason-commit) and company would prove their mettle, as the Knights gradually pulled away in the fourth quarter to win the championship by the slim margin of 66-64.
Begg scored 22 points in the contest, earning him the title of Tournament MVP.
