Hermantown Hawks (Hermantown, MN) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Monticello Magic (Monticello, MN), 80-63 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Hermantown upgrades its record to 6-5 on the season. The Hawks travel to Rock Ridge co-op [Eveleth-Gilbert/Virginia] (Eveleth, MN) to clash with the Wolverines in a AAA Section 7 bout on Friday, January 5. The Wolverines go into the bout with a record of 5-3.

Next up, the Magic clash with the Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm (Sauk Rapids, MN) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, January 4. Monticello will attempt to upgrade on its 1-7 season record. The Storm go into the bout with a 6-2 record after their 74-49 league win over Buffalo (Buffalo, MN).
