Fans at Friday's non-league challenge between the Independence Patriots (Coal City, WV) and the host Braxton County Eagles (Sutton, WV), saw Independence's basketball squad hold off Braxton County by a tally of 46-42.

With the victory, Independence improves its record to 5-1 on the campaign. The Patriots travel to Tug Valley (Williamson, WV) to confront the Panthers in a non-league challenge on Saturday, December 30. The Panthers come into the challenge with a record of 2-5. Tug Valley won 44-36 in their recent non-league challenge against Tygarts Valley (Mill Creek, WV)

Next up, the Eagles confront the Tygarts Valley Bulldogs (Mill Creek, WV) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, December 30. Braxton County will attempt to improve on its 4-6 season record. The Bulldogs come into the challenge with a 2-3 record after their 44-36 non-league loss to Tug Valley (Williamson, WV).
