Springfield Cougars (Springfield, PA) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Haverford Fords (Havertown, PA), 42-38 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Springfield upgrades its record to 1-0 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to Upper Darby (Drexel Hill, PA) to play the Royals in a non-league bout on Thursday, January 6. The Royals come into the bout with a record of 0-0.

Next up, the Fords play the Garnet Valley Jaguars (Glen Mills, PA) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 4. Haverford will attempt to upgrade on its 0-1 season record.
