Fans at Monday's non-league challenge between the West Carteret Patriots (Morehead City, NC) and the host New Bern Bears (New Bern, NC), saw West Carteret's basketball squad hold off New Bern by a tally of 40-34.

With the victory, West Carteret improves its record to 4-2 on the campaign. The Patriots host Kinston (Kinston, NC) to play the Vikings in a non-league challenge on Friday, December 8. The Vikings come into the challenge with a record of 2-2.

Next up, the Bears play the Ashley Screaming Eagle (Wilmington, NC) in a non-league challenge, on Wednesday, December 6. New Bern will attempt to improve on its 1-5 season record. The Screaming Eagle go into the test with a 4-0 record after their 40-31 non-league win over New Bern (New Bern, NC).
