The La Vega Pirates (Waco, TX) basketball nipped the visiting Chaparral Bobcats (Killeen, TX), 54-47 in Thursday's non-league test.

The Pirates (5-4) will now prepare for their test against Canyon Lake (Fischer, TX). The go into the non-league test with a 6-7 record. In their last test, Canyon Lake was tipped by East View (Georgetown, TX), 79-38, in a non-league test.

The Bobcats now own a 10-1 record. They play next when they travel to Travis for a non-league test on Thursday, December 8. Chaparral will encounter a Rebels squad coming off a 62-54 league win over Eastside Early College (Austin, TX). The Rebels record now stands at 2-6.
