The La Vega Pirates topped the host Gateway College Preparatory Gators basketball team by a final score of 45-33 in Saturday's non-league game.

In their next game, the Pirates face the College Station Cougars (College Station, TX) in a non-league game, on Tuesday, December 13. La Vega will attempt to move on its 8-4 season record. The Cougars enter the game with a 12-7 record after their 53-44 non-league loss to Vista Ridge (Cedar Park, TX).

With the defeat, Gateway College Preparatory moves to 4-8 on the year. The Gators host Chaparral (Killeen, TX) to face the Bobcats in a non-league game on Monday, December 12. The Bobcats enter the game with a record of 11-2. Chaparral lost 61-45 in their recent non-league game against East View (Georgetown, TX)
