January 20, 2023: Waco, TX 76705 Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Gatesville Hornets (Gatesville, TX) and the host La Vega Pirates (Waco, TX), saw Gatesville's basketball squad hold off La Vega by a tally of 53-52.
With the victory, Gatesville improves its record to 23-4 on the campaign. The Hornets travel to Robinson (Robinson, TX) to play the Rockets in a 4A Region III District 23 challenge on Tuesday, January 24. The Rockets come into the challenge with a record of 6-18. Robinson lost 86-37 in their recent league challenge against Connally (Waco, TX)
Next up, the Pirates play the Salado Eagles (Salado, TX) in a 4A Region III District 23 challenge, on Tuesday, January 24. La Vega will attempt to improve on its 14-10 season record. The Eagles come into the challenge with a 8-19 record after their 55-48 league loss to China Spring (China Spring, TX).
