Economedes Jaguars (Edinburg, TX) backers were pleased Thursday as they observed their basketball team overwhelm the host Progreso Red Ants (Progreso, TX), 61-31 in a non-league match.

In their next game, the Jaguars meet the La Feria Lions (La Feria, TX) in a non-league match, on Friday, December 9. Economedes will attempt to move on its 12-4 season record. The Lions enter the match with a 2-5 record after their 67-46 non-league loss to Rio Hondo (Rio Hondo, TX).

With the defeat, Progreso moves to 8-6 on the year. The Red ants travel to IDEA Riverview (Brownsville, TX) to meet the Rockets in a 3A Region IV District 32 match on Tuesday, December 13. The Rockets enter the match with a record of 0-5. IDEA Riverview lost 74-15 in their recent non-league match against Harvest Christian (Edinburg, TX)
