Texas High School Basketball - Pioneer holds off San Benito
December 9, 2023: San Benito, TX 78586 Fans at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Pioneer Diamondbacks (Mission, TX) and the host San Benito Greyhounds (San Benito, TX), saw Pioneer's basketball squad hold off San Benito by a tally of 45-38.
With the victory, Pioneer improves its record to 9-7 on the campaign. The Diamondbacks travel to Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North (Pharr, TX) to confront the Raiders in a 5A Region IV District 31 challenge on Tuesday, December 12. The Raiders come into the challenge with a record of 4-9. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North lost 68-54 in their recent non-league challenge against Los Fresnos (Los Fresnos, TX)
Next up, the Greyhounds confront the La Feria Lions (La Feria, TX) in a non-league challenge, on Tuesday, December 12. San Benito will attempt to improve on its 4-7 season record. The Lions come into the challenge with a 5-4 record after their 47-45 non-league loss to Santa Gertrudis Academy (Kingsville, TX).
