Union Area Scotties (New Castle, PA) supporters left the game satisfied Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad triumph over the host Freedom Area Bulldogs (Freedom, PA), 56-27 in a non-league match.

With the victory, Union Area advances its record to 5-0 on the year. The Scotties host Laurel (New Castle, PA) to face the Spartans in a WPIAL 2A 4 match on Friday, December 13. The Spartans enter the match with a record of 3-2. Laurel lost 51-45 in their recent non-league match against Ellwood City (Ellwood City, PA)

The Bulldogs now own a 0-4 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Winchester Thurston for a non-league match on Tuesday, December 10. Freedom Area will face a squad coming off a 65-48 non-league win over St. Joseph (Natrona Heights, PA). The record now stands at 1-1.
