In Saturday's non-league contest, the host Hopewell Blue Devils basketball team scored a close 63-56 triumph over the Varina Blue Devils.

The Blue Devils (15-2) will now prepare for their contest against Meadowbrook (Richmond, VA). The Monarchs go into the Central contest with a 6-9 record. In their last contest, Meadowbrook was tipped by Hampton (Hampton, VA), 67-35, in a non-league contest.
