North Carolina High School Basketball - Weddington edges Monroe

The Weddington Warriors (Matthews, NC) basketball nipped the host Monroe Redhawks (Monroe, NC), 44-40 in Monday's non-league test.

The Warriors (13-10) will now prepare for their test against Marvin Ridge (Waxhaw, NC). The Mavericks go into the 4A Southern Carolina test with a 19-4 record. In their last test, Marvin Ridge got by Sun Valley (Monroe, NC), 56-52, in a league test.

The Redhawks now own a 7-14 record. They play next when they travel to Central Academy for a 2A/3A Rocky River test on Tuesday, February 13. Monroe will encounter a Cougars squad coming off a 61-19 league loss to Forest Hills (Marshville, NC). The Cougars record now stands at 0-19.
