Georgia High School Basketball - Lanier nips Gainesville
February 2, 2024: Sugar Hill, GA 30518 Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Lanier Longhorns (Sugar Hill, GA) and the visiting Gainesville Red Elephants (Gainesville, GA), saw Lanier's basketball squad hold off Gainesville by a count of 37-35.
With the victory, Lanier upgrades its record to 13-10 on the campaign. The Longhorns host Habersham Central (Mt. Airy, GA) to play the Raiders in a AAAAAA Region 8 challenge on Tuesday, February 6. The Raiders come into the challenge with a record of 9-12. Habersham Central lost 69-30 in their recent league challenge against North Forsyth (Cumming, GA)
Next up, the Red Elephants play the Jackson County Panthers (Jefferson, GA) in a AAAAAA Region 8 challenge, on Tuesday, February 6. Gainesville will attempt to upgrade on its 5-16 season record. The Panthers come into the challenge with a 5-17 record after their 49-33 league loss to Shiloh (Snellville, GA).
