In Thursday's non-league game, the host Newberry Panthers baseball team scored a close 4-3 victory over the Lafayette Hornets.

The Panthers (6-2) will now prepare for their game against Vanguard (Ocala, FL). The Knights go into the non-league game with a 7-1 record. In their last game, Vanguard was tipped by Santa Fe (Alachua, FL), 7-6, in a non-league game.
