Texas High School Softball - Merkel holds off Greenwood
February 28, 2023: Midland, TX 79706 Merkel Badgers (Merkel, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Greenwood Rangers (Midland, TX), 3-1 in a non-league challenge.
The Badgers now own a 4-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Anson for a non-league challenge on Saturday, March 4. Merkel will face a Tigers squad coming off a 13-10 non-league win over Cross Plains (Cross Plains, TX). The Tigers record now stands at 9-5.
With the loss, Greenwood falls to 7-6 on the campaign. The Rangers travel to Cedar Hill (Cedar Hill, TX) to face the Longhorns in a non-league challenge on Thursday, March 2. The Longhorns enter the challenge with a record of 6-2. Cedar Hill won 3-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Nolan Catholic (Fort Worth, TX)
