The New Brockton Gamecocks softball team scored 18 runs and held the host Samson Tigers to 9 in the Gamecocks non-league win on Friday.

The Gamecocks now possess a 1-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Ashford for a non-league battle on Monday, March 3. New Brockton will confront a Yellowjackets team coming off a 20-3 non-league win over Cottonwood (Cottonwood, AL). The Yellowjackets record now stands at 4-2.

With the loss, Samson moves to 0-1 on the season. The Tigers travel to Geneva County (Hartford, AL) to confront the Bulldogs in a 2A Area 2 battle on Monday, March 3. The Bulldogs come into the battle with a record of 2-4. Geneva County won 3-2 in their recent non-league battle against Carroll (Ozark, AL)
