Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Pana Panthers (Pana, IL) and the visiting Southwestern Piasa Birds (Piasa, IL), saw Pana's basketball squad hold off Southwestern by a tally of 53-49.

With the victory, Pana improves its record to 14-11 on the campaign. The Panthers host Taylorville (Taylorville, IL) to play the Tornadoes in a non-league challenge on Saturday, February 4. The Tornadoes come into the challenge with a record of 3-23. Taylorville lost 72-27 in their recent league challenge against Lincoln (Lincoln, IL)

Next up, the Piasa Birds play the Greenfield/Northwestern Tigers (Greenfield, IL) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, February 4. Southwestern will attempt to improve on its 14-12 season record. The Tigers come into the challenge with a 15-10 record after their 59-46 league loss to Routt Catholic (Jacksonville, IL).
